FASSTT’s systemic advocacy is grounded in the belief that healing from trauma is not only an individual journey, but also a matter of justice, equity, and inclusion. Across the national network, FASSTT agencies work to ensure that service systems are trauma-focused, culturally safe and shaped by the voices of refugee and asylum-seeking communities.

Through coordinated submissions, sector engagement and government consultation, FASSTT advocates for:

  • Policies that protect and promote the rights of survivors of torture and trauma,
  • Service responses that reflect lived experience and cultural diversity,
  • Greater investment in community-based mental health and recovery support,
  • Refugee-informed approaches to justice, education, employment, housing and health.

FASSTT submissions draw on direct service experience, emerging data and the insights of clients, communities and practitioners across the network. We contribute to national reviews, inquiries, and reform processes to ensure refugee trauma is not overlooked – and recovery is possible.
